Erie Explosion Sign Former All-Big East Standout Eric Wicks

Erie, PA- The Erie Explosion have announced the signing of former All-Big East performer Eric Wicks to a contract for the 2011 season. Wicks (6'1, 217) comes to the Explosion following his tenures at West Virginia University, and the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League.

Wicks, a standout defensive back at WVU from 2004-2007 finished his collegiate career with 187 total tackles and 9 interceptions. Following his outstanding 2006 season, Wicks was named to the All-Big East Team and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list . In the preseason of 2007, Wicks was selected as the #7 safety in the nation by Lindy's, was a second-team All-American selection, and was a preseason first-team all-Big East selection. He was also selected on the Jim Thorpe Award watch list and Lott Trophy watch list. Wicks was named the Big East Defensive Player of the week , Defensive MVP, and Coaches Contribution Award during his tenure with the Mountaineers. Wicks signed with the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL in 2008 as an undrafted free agent.
