Erie Explosion Players Go to Camp

(Erie, PA)- Erie who has the number one ranked offense in the CIFL could be without the services of two of their top offensive weapons who have CFL workouts this week. Former Gannon University product Evan Twombly who is in his first professional season has workouts scheduled with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Twombly has recorded 24 receptions for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns during the 2014 season. Running back Nate Burney has been invited to participate in the mini-camp of the Edminton Eskimos of the CFL this week in Florida. Burney a University of Akron product who is in his first professional indoor season has rushed for 186 yards and 9 touchdowns during the 2014 campaign. Burney has returned 13 kickoffs for a 16.7 yard per return average and one touchdown.

"We have a big game this week to tune-up for our championship run in the playoffs. It is important that we finish strong as we begin preparations for Saginaw, and we plan to put on a show for the best fans in professional indoor football at the Erie Insurance Arena. We are proud of our players who have the opportunity to showcase their skills for the Canadian Football League this week. We have many more players on our roster who I feel will be able to use their experience here as a vehicle to advance their professional careers in the future," commented Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
