Erie Explosion Enter Home Stretch of 2014 Campaign

(Erie, PA)- The Erie Explosion enter the home stretch of the 2014 CIFL season with two regular season home games remaining prior to the playoffs. Erie at (6-2) controls their own destiny for a CIFL Playoff Berth. The Explosion are currently on a bye week before finishing the 2014 season with home games against the Port Huron Patriots on Sunday April 13th and the Detroit Thunder on Sunday April 27th. Since a 22-21 loss to the Marion Blue Racers on the road, the Explosion have been dominating in all phases of the game as they have grabbed control of their playoff destiny in their quest to defend their 2013 CIFL Championship.

The Explosion will use the bye week to heal up and begin preparations to face the Port Huron Patriots on Sunday April 13th at the Erie Insurance Arena. Erie defeated the Patriots two weeks ago in Port Huron by a score of 65-30. The Explosion who were devastated by injuries early this season have been bolstered in recent weeks with roster additions and players healing from injury. "We will use the bye week to our advantage to get some guys healthy and energized for our run towards the playoffs and the 2014 CIFL Championship. I anticipate having most of our roster at one-hundred percent when we get back to the Erie Insurance Arena to take on Port Huron in-front of the best fans in Professional Indoor Football," commented Erie Explosion Head Coach Shawn Liotta.

A quick glance at the CIFL statistics and rankings show an Explosion club which again ranks among the league leaders in several categories. Erie finished the 2013 season with the top ranked offense and defense in the CIFL. The Erie Explosion offensive unit has finished as the number one ranked offense for three consecutive seasons entering 2014.

The Erie Explosion will host the Port Huron Patriots on Sunday April 13 th at the Erie Insurance Arena with kickoff scheduled for 2:00pm. The game has been tabbed as the "Environmental Game" which will be a celebration of Earth Day and will feature raffles and giveaways for fans.
