
Erie Explosion Continue to Add Talent To Roster

(Erie,PA)- The Erie Explosion have announced the signing of two linemen in advance of their upcoming home game vs. the Eastern Kentucky Drillers on Sunday April 1st. The Explosion have added offensive lineman Marcus Gordon (6'6, 330) who has NFL, CFL, and Arena Football League Experience and defensive lineman Tyton Brunner (6'4, 260) who was an All-PSAC performer at Shippensburg. Both players are expected to make an immediate impact with the Explosion this weekend. "Our goal is to bring a Championship to the City of Erie, and we are committed to putting the best product on the field for our fans. I look forward to seeing both of these talented players in action on Sunday against a very solid Eastern Kentucky team," commented Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
Marcus Gordon comes to the Explosion after spending time with the Kansas City Command of the Arena Football League, Hamilton Tigercats of the Canadian Football League, and the Denver Broncos of the NFL. Following a standout college career Gordon signed with the Broncos as a college free agent on April 27, 2009. Gordon started all 12 games in his only season at Kentucky State after transferring from the University of Louisville. Was a two-year starter at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan., before his time at Louisville. Received honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference recognition at Highland C.C. in 2004 and was voted the team's best offensive lineman. He attended Westside High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he earned all-region and all-conference honors in addition to receiving the team's Best Lineman Award.
Tyton Brunner joins the Explosion as an indoor rookie following an impressive collegiate career at Shippensburg University. Brunner tied for the team lead with 7.5 sacks for a total of 38 yards while contributing to a defensive unit that had the fourth-most sacks in SU history and the most in 18 years. In addition, Brunner compiled 23 total tackles (including 16 solo stops) while ranking second on the team with ten tackles for loss. He also led the team with six quarterback hurries and recorded two pass breakups while recovering one fumble. 12 games played. 2009 PSAC state champions over California Pa. 2009 ALL -PSAC East Football First Team Defense. 2009 Don Hansens All Super Region One Third Team Defense. Brunner was a product of Camp Hill (Pa) High School where he was named an All-State defensive end.
The Erie Explosion are proud members of the United Indoor Football League. The Explosion will take on the Eastern Kentucky Drillers on Sunday April 1st at the Tullio Arena at 2:00pm. A special meet and greet is planned at the Sidewalk Café (26 North Park Row, Erie PA) at 9:30am on Sunday April 1st.
