MUSKEGON, Michigan (March 23rd) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that Goaltender Eric Schierhorn has been tabbed by the United States Hockey League (USHL) as the league's "CCM Co-Goaltender of the Week" collecting the honors for the third time this season and sharing it this week with Cam Gornet of the Sioux City Musketeers.

Schierhorn, the Anchorage, Alaska native and University of Minnesota commit, lands the accolade following a perfect two-game road trip in Green Bay against the Gamblers this past Friday and Saturday in which the Lumberjacks came away with 3-2 (shootout) and 3-1 victories, respectively. In those two contests, Schierhorn compiled a 2-0-0 record to go with a 1.45 goals-against average and .950 save percentage while also stopping both Gambler shooters during the 2-0 shootout victory on Friday. Additionally, Schierhorn posted a 33-save effort on Friday followed by a 24-save night on Saturday.

"It was a good weekend all-around for the guys as we took care of business and ended up with two big victories against a tough opponent on the road," said Schierhorn. "The team defense in front of me during both games and our attention to detail throughout the week of preparation (for Green Bay) last week provided a substantial contribution to my individual success over the weekend."

To date, Schierhorn is currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) that also includes a four-game winning streak. The former Russell Stover and Shattuck St. Mary's product currently ranks in top five among all USHL goaltenders in appearances (fifth with 39), minutes played (fourth at 2320:46), wins (third with 23), goals-against average (fifth at 2.48), saves (first with 1,220), and save percentage (first at .927). During his USHL career, Schierhorn has compiled a 43-31-5 record to go along with a 2.90 goals-against average, a .915 save percentage, and three shutouts.

This week's recognition marks the fifth time during Schierhorn's USHL tenure in which the second-year Lumberjack has been named as the league's "Goaltender of the Week." Schierhorn is one of four Lumberjacks this season to be awarded a weekly league honor joining teammates Christian Wolanin, Tommy Marchin, and Griffen Molino.
