Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Empire State Greys and Tri-City ValleyCats met on Friday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium for the second game of the weekend series.

Jose Cruz made the start for the Tri-City ValleyCats and matched up with Greys starter Johsson Arias.

After the first two Greys hitters were retired to begin the game, Jordan Holloman-Scott would single to keep the inning alive. Clean up hitter Trey Woosley would send an RBI double into deep right center field. Arias would hold the ValleyCats offense to just one hit in his outing, a single from Jesus Lujano in the top of the first inning.

Robbie Carling laced a single to lead off the top of the third inning. The Greys would plate their second run of the game later in the inning when Woosley induced a rundown between first and second, allowing Carling to score.

The 'Cats wouldn't record another hit until the home half of the sixth inning, when Jesus Lujano would rope a lead off single into right field. Following a Willy Garcia strike out, ValleyCats designated hitter Brad Zunica would line a double into deep right center field off of Connor Mcguire. Lujano came around to score from first base, cutting the Greys lead in half, 2-1.

Adam Hofacket entered the game in the top of the seventh for the ValleyCats. Jose Mercado would lead off the top of the seventh by lining his third single of the game into left field. Mercado would steal second base on the first pitch thrown to Liam McArthur. The Greys center fielder would land a fastball from Hofacket down the left field line, plating Mercado from second. A Robbie Carling single would drive McArthur home, giving the Greys a three run cushion. The Greys offense had a lot more in the tank in the top of the seventh inning. Five more runs would come home in the inning, giving Empire State the 9-2 lead.

Tri-City would plate one in the seventh inning, when Jesus Lujano lined an RBI single into right field to bring Pavin Parks around to score. Trey Cochran-Gill would come in the top of the ninth and not surrender a run in the inning.

The ValleyCats would score one more in the ninth on an RBI single from Brantley Bell. Jordan Holloman-Scott would cut down a sprinting Pavin Parks at home to end the game.
