Topeka Pilots News Release

In a classic see-saw battle, a gutsy group called the Santa Fe Roadrunners (5-4-0) posted a dramatic 3-2 come from behind win over the Bismarck Bobcats. The win vaulted the Roadrunners over the .500 mark for the first time this year with their fourth win in a row.

In an emotionally uplifting win, the Roadrunners rallied from a horrific first period where they were outplayed and out shot 15-4 by the Bobcats. Completely dominated by the Bobcats, goaltender Chris Carlson remained unfazed by the flurry of shots as he continues his superb goaltending efforts. Despite the barrage, Eric Bigham of the Roadrunners opened the scoring on just the second Roadrunner shot of the period. Bismarck replied when Donnie Mitchell evened the score late in the first.

Despite being outshot terribly in the first, the Roadrunners began to find there stride in the second stanza blasting 15 shots of their own on Bobcats goaltender Charlie Farrell. However late through the second, Sean McWhorter put the Bobcats up 2-1 but that did not deflate the Roadrunners.

For the first time this season, the Roadrunners came from behind to win led by the veteran duo named Brandon. The never-say-die attitude of Assistant Captain Brandon Johnson and Captain Brandon Vossberg, popped third period goals. Vossberg's goal came with just 4:11 to play in the third. Veteran forward Corey Stark chipped in with two assists in the third to continue his torrid scoring pace.

Other point getters on the night were John Stoddard with two assists and forwards David Solway and Brant Marple with an assist each. Both teams were 0 for 3 on the powerplay.
