Elmira Pioneers Sign Old Dominion Trio
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Pioneers of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League are proud to announce the addition of three players from Old Dominion University for the 2014 season. The freshman trio consists of Joe Guaragna (OF), Sam Sinnen (RHP) and Nick Walker (SS). The Monarchs are in their first season as members of Conference USA and currently have an overall record of 25-16. The freshman trio are teammates at ODU with former Pioneers Tommy Alexander (P), Brian Bashara (INF) and Victor Diaz (P) who were members of the 2013 West Division Championship team.
Joe Guaragna comes to the Pioneers from Mississauga, Ontario Canada. Guaragna committed to Old Dominion after playing High School baseball at St. Martin. The 6'1" outfielder has appeared in 8 games thus far for the Monarchs, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Guaragna is the son of Angelo and Rose Guaragna and has one sister (Alessandra).
Sam Sinnen hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia and played baseball at Kellam High School before committing to ODU. A crafty right handed pitcher, Sinnen, stands at 6'0" and was a first team All-Tidewater selection after his senior year putting together a 9-1 record with a 1.95 ERA. So far this season Sinnen has put together a 1-0 record with a 2.20 ERA through 12 appearances for the Monarchs.
Nick Walker also hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia where he played alongside Sam Sinnen at Kellam. Listed as a shortstop, Walker has been a career infielder and hit .350 his senior year with 3 home runs as Kellam advanced to the Virginia AAA State Quarterfinals. Walker has worked himself into the Monarchs starting lineup and has appeared in 37 games while making 26 starts. Walker currently has a .312 batting average with 9 doubles, 2 home runs, 15 RBI and 9 stolen bases in 10 attempts.

"Sam will be counted on to pitch a lot of innings for us while Nick and Joe will be able to contribute offensively and give us a boost" Stated Pioneers Manager Matt Burch when asked about the addition of the three players from Old Dominion.
