Elmira Pioneers Coaching Staff Returns for 2014 Season

Elmira, NY- The 125th season of baseball in the Twin Tiers was full of many successful moments. The Pioneers rallied at season's end knocking off the Newark Pilots on their home field before being crowned the best of the west with a thrilling victory over the Watertown Rams. The Pioneers and their group of local owners will look to continue the great atmosphere that comes with attending a baseball game heading into the teams 126th season of at Historic Dunn Field.

The Pioneers are pleased to announce that the 2014 Pioneers will be lead once again by Manager Matt Burch. Burch led the Pioneers all the way to the PGCBL Championship Series against the Amsterdam Mohawks, who would go on to take the crown in a series that showcased an immense amount of talent in a true three game series that went the distance. "After an exciting 2013 season I am appreciative that the Pioneers ownership group asked me to return to manage the 2014 club. The PGCBL is a competitive league and we look forward to bringing a winning team back to the great fans and the city of Elmira."

Helping Manager Burch piece together the 2014 squad will be a pair of familiar faces to fans attending Dunn Field. "I [Burch] am pleased to announce that Brian Hill and Archie McNelis will also be returning to help the 2014 Pios in the quest for a PGCBL Championship. Their expertise and presence offer invaluable assistance that resonates from the clubhouse to the playing field. Together the three were able to assemble a very exciting group of players that finished third amongst teams in batting average (.268) and second in doubles (85).

Season tickets for the 2014 are on sale and the Pioneers are poised to continue packing Historic Dunn Field after finishing third in the nation for total attendance during the 2013 season.
