
Elks Take Game 1 against the Blue Jackets 2-1

The Bend Elks defeated the Kitsap Blue Jackets 2-1 at Vince Genna Stadium Monday night. It was a very well pitched game from both starters. Bend starter Rio Gomez threw 7 innings allowing only 4 hits and the only Kitsap run of the game, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Harrison Pyatt came on in the 8th with a runner on and retired 6 of the 7 blue jackets he faced, striking out 4. Pyatt received his 4th win of the season for his efforts.
The Elks bats were having a hard time getting the ball until the 7th when West Tunnel led things off with a single followed by a Patrick Flynn single that sent Tunnel to 3rd.Cooper Hummel then came to the plat and smacked a fields choice that scored Tunnel to tie the score at 1.
The game was tied until the bottom go the 9th with one out when Patrick Flynn walks. Copper Hummel them comes to the plate and shoots a grounder that went through the legs of the second baseman getting Flynn to 3rd on the error. With runners at 2nd and 3rd Dalton Hurd comes to the plate and drops a single to shallow right to score the winning walk off run.
Tonights win gives the Elks a record of 33-13 and the Elks clinched the South Division tonight with the win. The Elks return to action Tuesday night for 2 dollar Tuesday as the Elks host Kitsap for the second game of the 3 game series.
