Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks (8-9) could muster no offense up in Canada on Monday against the Falcons, falling by a score of 8-1.

The Kelowna Falcons scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning against Elks starter Derek Peterson, his first start for the Elks after working as a reliever to date, and that would end up being more than enough for the Falcons to clinch a sweep of the Elks. The Falcons would score three more in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to add insult to injury against Bend, who have now lost 7 of their last 8 games.

Josh McAlister and David Birosak did a good job in relief at the end of the ball game against the Falcons, pitching 3.1 innings while surrendering one run, a solo home run to Kyle Perarson, but it wouldn't matter at that point with an 8 run deficit and only 1 hit at that point in the game for the Elks.

Tommy Pluschkell got his first RBI as a Bend Elks to help the Elks avoid the shutout on the night, scoring Jordan Copeland in the top of the 9th.

The Elks begin a 3 game series with the Walla Walla Sweets on Tuesday, first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to Stephen Gall, the voice of the Elks, live from bendelks.com, 20 minutes before first pitch.
