Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Falcons would extend their winning streak to six on Monday night after an 8-1 sweep of the Bend Elks for the first time in franchise history.

Starting pitcher Cord Cockrill was masterful in his third win of the season. The righty would throw eight complete innings, scattering four hits, allowing one run while striking out five.

The Falcons would finally break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth on an Andrew Firth two run single. Also in the inning the Falcons would score a run on a wild pitch. Firth would then score on an RBI from Cameron Alvarado.

Kyle Pearson smacked his league leading fifth homerun of the season, finishing with three hits and three runs scored.

Kyle Moses and Greg Friesen also added RBIs in the series finale.

The Falcons finished their seven game home stand 6-1 and raise their overall record to 13-5 and take sole possession of second place in the East Division.

The club will now have two days off before make the long bus ride to Klamath Falls Oregon and a weekend series with the 2-16 Gems. The Falcons will also face the Elks in Bend next week.

The Falcons will return home on Friday July 6 to host the West Division leading Corvallis Knights.

Prior to the game on Monday night two Falcons were named Co-Players of the Week in the West Coast League (WCL).

Pitcher David Ernst made two starts and earned two wins allowing only four hits and a run over 11.2 innings pitched. For the summer, Ernst is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA.

Catcher Jerry McClanahan went 12-for-21 with four doubles, two home runs and five RBIs to earn his share of WCL Player of the Week honours.

It's the second consecutive week that a Falcon has been named the Player of the Week as pitcher Brandon Marris won the award last week.

Kyle Pearson of LSU-Shreveport also made a run at Player of the Week honours as the junior first baseman blasted four homers and collected 11 RBI.
