Elks hold on to win

The Bend Elks scored 3 runs in the top of the 10th inning, then held on to the 6-3 victory over the Cowlitz Black Bears from Story Field in Longview, WA on Wednesday night.

The Elks got on the board first in the top of the 2nd inning when Shawn O'Brien's RBI double scored Will Sparks from 1st to give the Elks the early 1-0 lead.

The Elks led 2-1 in the top of the 9th inning and added a run with an RBI single from Steven Halcomb to give the Elks a 3-1 lead. But in the bottom of the 9th, J.R. Bunda gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, with an RBI double by Cowlitz second baseman Cody Childs scored Kyle Kuck to tie the game at 3 and send it to extra innings.

In the top of the 10th inning, Sparks had an RBI Sac Fly to score Jordan Copeland, Shawn O'Brien's RBI Double scored Bo Walter, and Jake Azevedo's single scored O'Brien to give the Elks their final 6-3 margin of victory.

Shawn O'Brien went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Will Sparks went 1-3 with an RBI and a run, and the Bend Elks had 7 of their 11 hits after the 8th inning en route to the victory.

The Elks final West Coast League game will take place Thursday in Longview, WA, first pitch at 6:35.
