Elks Fall to Cowlitz 6-5 in 13

The Bend Elks dropped the first game of the three game series Thursday night to the Cowlitz Black Bears by a score of 6-5 in 13 innings. The Elks and Bears were tied at 2 each going to the top of the 6th inning when the Elks scored 2 to take the lead and then added another run in the top of 7th for a 3 run lead. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th,the Bears managed to score three runs with the help of a Bend error, once agin locking up the score at 5 each until the 13th inning. In the bottom of the 13 relief pitcher Michael Bennet entered the game and walked the first batter he faced. He then hit a Cowlitz batter before walking two more Black Bears pushing the winning run across the plate. Bennet took the loss. Game two is Friday night at Story Field in Longview, Washington. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and can be heard at bendelks.com.
