Elks Fall to Cowlitz 6-5 in 13

The Bend Elks dropped the first game of the three game series Thursday night to the Cowlitz Black Bears by a score of 6-5 in 13 innings. The Elks and Bears were tied at 2 each going to the top of the 6th inning when the Elks scored 2 to take the lead and then added another run in the top of 7th for a 3 run lead. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th,the Bears managed to score three runs with the help of a Bend error, once agin locking up the score at 5 each until the 13th inning. In the bottom of the 13 relief pitcher Michael Bennet entered the game and walked the first batter he faced. He then hit a Cowlitz batter before walking two more Black Bears pushing the winning run across the plate. Bennet took the loss. Game two is Friday night at Story Field in Longview, Washington.
