Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks rode quality pitching and timely hitting to a big win on Friday night as Royce Bollinger hit a grand slam to cap a 5 run 7th inning, and the Elks would win 8-0.

The Elks scored 3 in the bottom of the 3rd due to back to back runners reaching base with 1 out, Michael Benjamin reached by virtue of an error, scoring the first runner, Stetson Olson, who also got his first hit of the season Friday. Donald Collins then scored on a balk, and Michael Benjamin came around to score on a Bo Walter RBI single. Then in the 7th, The Elks got the bases loaded with 2 outs when Royce Bollinger delivered an 0-2 breaking ball over the left center field fence, making the game 7-0. The Elks would tack on one more in the inning, but the damage was more than done against the Falcons.

The Elks got a combined 3 hit effort from Nick Stiltner and Joey McClung on the night. Stiltner got the win, going 7 innings, giving up just 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 3. McClung threw the final 2, giving up a couple hits, and striking out 3 himself in the win. The Elks will go for the sweep tomorrow night against the Kelowna Falcons, 6:35 first pitch.
