
Black Bears Lose, Fireworks Extravaganza this Sunday

Longview-Kelso: Stewart Fewel (LCC) struggled out of the box, allowing four runs in the first inning - including two triples - and the Walla Walla Sweets never looked back. The Black Bears scored one run off of Sweets starter Daniel Jewett, but that was all they would manage.
Only three Cowlitz players reached base more than once. Brent Graham (LCC) went one-for-four with a walk, Matt Giller (Kansas St.) reached on a single and an error, and Trent Zaks (UC-Irvine) reached on a walk and an error. Greg Velazquez (Cal St Fullerton) returned to the lineup after hurting his ankle in a game against Kelowna on June 17 th . He led off the 9 th inning with a single, but the frame and the game ended shortly thereafter with him stranded on second.
The Black Bears return to Story Field on July 3 rd for a contest with the Portland Stars. The team will celebrate the 4 th of July with a Fireworks Extravaganza. The game is also another Elder Options Senior Sunday, where seniors get a $2 discount on tickets, and members of the Cold Stone Creamery Kids Club get in for free.
