Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks got their road trip off on the right foot as 2 early runs and quality pitching would limit the Walla Walla Sweets to three hits, and the Elks won by a score of 2-1.

The Elks got on the board in the top of the first after Donald Collins hit a one out double, Tyler Christian walked, then Ryan Dunn hit an RBI single to score Collins, and an error by the catcher trying to get Christian at third allowed for Christian to come around and score, making it a 2-0 lead before Walla Walla got to the plate.

Walla Walla would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth, as a hit by pitch and two walks loaded the bases, and an error by Tyler Christian would allow for a run to come across, cutting the lead to 1.

That would be all the scoring on the night, and it would prove to be enough for Brandon Brennan, making his first start of the season for the Elks. Brennan provided a big boost for the Elks, who continue to battle injuries to the pitching staff. Brennan went 5 Innings, giving up just one run on 2 hits and struck out four. Jeff Brigham picked up the save after throwing a scoreless 9th.

The Elks will play game two of the series tomorrow, 7:05 first pitch.
