Jake Thompson tossed six strong innings and Josh Cushing slugged an opposite field two-run homer to lead the Bend Elks to a 4-2 victory over the Kelowna Falcons in a West Coast League game at Vince Genna Stadium before a season-high 2,349 fans on Tuesday evening.
Cushing and Brock Carpenter each finished with three hits. Kevin Sheets recorded his fifth save of the 2014 season with Jesse Pratt earning the hold, striking out five in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Bend advances to 13-11 on the season while Kelowna falls to 7-16.
The Elks and Falcons will square off in the rubber match of the three-game series at Vince Genna Stadium on Wednesday evening at 6:35 pm.
