Elgin to hold tryouts

The new Elgin professional basketball team-playing in the International Basketball League will be holding player tryouts on February 3, 4, 5 at The Centre in downtown Elgin (150 Dexter Court).

- Tryouts will start at 5:00pm.

- The cost for tryout is $50.00 and will include an IBL Jersey and refreshments at practice.

- Players are encouraged to pre-register by contacting coach James Condill at 815-546-4466 or email: jamescondill@mac.com.

The Elgin community will host a professional basketball team to play in the International Basketball League for the 2006 season, team Co-Owners Tony Patricelli and Bob Fischer announced today. The team will play all ten home games at local Judson College beginning Friday March 31 at 7:15pm against the Lake County Lakers. An exhibition game intended for local Media and select sponsors will precede the regular season on Tuesday March 28 at 7:15pm at the same venue.

Judson College, a four-year private Christian university, has been a community entity since 1963. The gymnasium seats 2,000 spectators and retains all of the necessary additions to host a professional team. During the collegiate season, Judson maintains a thriving athletics department with strong Men's and Women's basketball programs.

Past News Announcing General Manager and Head Coach:

The Elgin Warriors (formerly Windy City) of the International Basketball League announce the signings of their General Manager and head coach. Jim Cook, the new GM, is also the men's head coach with Judson College basketball. He coached locally for 13 years in the AAU basketball program. He and his wife Vicki and their 14 year old son Jamal reside in Elgin. Jamal is a football player with Elgin HS. "My connections within the community and colleges give me access to many good players," said Cook.

James Condill will be Elgin's new head coach; he was the 2002 NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year at Judson College. He grew up in Barrington, Illinois, which is right beside Elgin. His wife Dawn and two children, Lucas and Makra are active in their community. Lucas plays professional basketball in Germany while his daughter plays volleyball at Florida Atlantic University. "It is my hope, and the hope of the owners of the Elgin Warriors that this team will become a source of pride and family enjoyment for the people of Elgin and the surrounding area," said Condill.
