El Paso Locomotive FC Welcomes Sacramento Republic to Southwest University Park

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC (4-6-1, 13 pts., West-9) hosts Sacramento Republic FC (4-2-3, 15 pts., West-5) at Southwest University Park on Wednesday, May 18. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Tickets are available for purchase online at eplocomotivefc.com/tickets or by calling 915-235-GOAL.

The first 1,500 fans to Southwest University Park when gates open at 6:00 p.m. MT will receive a limited edition Vamos El Paso T-shirt, featuring the famous El Paso Star against the silhouette of the Franklin Mountains. Shirts are available in medium and extra-large while supplies last. Wednesday night will also feature $2 specials on 12oz Estrella Jaliscos, 16oz sodas, margaritas, small popcorn, and hotdogs.

For the second time in the 2022 USL Championship season, El Paso Locomotive will take on Sacramento Republic FC. Locomotive came away from California on a 3-1 loss, but now can right the wrongs of the first match with a victory over Sacrament Republic. Southwest University Park has played host to these two teams only three times in history, including the exhilarating 3-0 victory in the 2019 Western Conference Semifinals. The last time Republic FC visited El Paso was in September of 2021, where the Locos shut down Sacramento on a 2-0 win, leaving the California club without ever claiming a point in El Paso.

Both teams enter the midweek showdown in two very different forms, making for what should be an exciting match. El Paso enters Wednesday off the heels of a 1-0 loss to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on the weekend. Prior to the road loss, however, El Paso Locomotive has been heating up, going four games undefeated with a three-game win streak. Now the Locos will look to make Pittsburgh just a bump in the road as it welcomes a Sacramento side who tasted victory for the first time since the start of April last Sunday. Coming off a 1-0 win over New York Red Bulls II, Sacramento has been earning series a draws blemished only by a loss to Rio Grande Valley its last four games. As Sacramento looks to start building a winning streak, Locomotive will take every opportunity to keep its name in the ring for the 2022 season.
