Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown scored eight times in the second inning en route to a 9-1 win over the BlueClaws on Monday night at Municipal Stadium.
The eight run inning was the largest by a BlueClaws opponent since Hickory scored eight in the second inning of their game at FirstEnergy Park on July 28th last year.
The loss drops Lakewood to 9-9 on the year and 3-2 on their current eight-game road trip. The Suns improved to 6-2 and won for the third time in their last four games.
Branden Bogetto started the scoring with an RBI single in the second. After a pair of errors allowed a second run to score, Jack Sundberg walked with the bases loaded to make it a 3-0 game. Anderson Franco followed with an RBI single and Aldrem Corredor added an RBI single to chase starter David Parkinson.
Luis Carrasco came in and allowed a wild pitch to score a run with Bogetto adding another RBI single to cap the eight-run inning. Because of the two errors, only one of the eight runs was earned against Parkinson.
The BlueClaws, meanwhile, couldn't solve Nick Raquet (1-2), who allowed one run in six innings to earn his first win of the season.
The BlueClaws got their lone run on a sixth inning RBI single from Quincy Nieporte, who has now driven in a run in five straight games.
Bogetto had four hits for Hagerstown in the win. Nick Maton had two hits in the loss for Lakewood. Maton is now 14-42 over his last 12 games.
The teams continue their four-game series on Tuesday night at 6:05 pm. RHP Ramon Rosso (0-0) starts for Lakewood opposite RHPÂ Jackson Tetreault (0-1).
