Atlantic City, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, have announced that rookie center Derek Edwardson has been loaned to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. He is the fifth player on the Bullies roster to receive an AHL promotion this season.

Edwardson, 23, is first in scoring with 30 points and plus-minus rating with +16 and tied for the lead in shorthand assists (2) and shorthand points (3). He is tied for second with 17 assists and nine power-play points while ranking third with 13 goals. Overall in the ECHL, he is second in the scoring race and second in plus-minus rating (+16) in 26 games while helping Atlantic City to a league-leading 36 points and 16 wins and first place in the North Division of the National Conference.

In his first professional season, Edwardson was named the CCM Vector Rookie of the Month for November after he led the Bullies with eight goals and tied for the league lead with 18 points during the month, scoring a point in all but three games as Atlantic City went 10-2-1.

In four seasons at Miami University (Ohio), Edwardson scored 120 points (38g-8! 2a) in 135 games, including career highs as a senior with 17 goals, 31 assists and 48 points in 41 games.

Edwardson joins forward Brett Nowak, defensemen Brian Fahey and Vince Macri, and goaltender Adam Munro as current Bullies in the AHL.

Atlantic City returns to Historic Boardwalk Hall at 7:05PM Wednesday, December 29 when they host the Dayton Bombers. Every Wednesday home game is "Wild Wednesday".
