Edmonton Stingers News Release
EDMONTON, AB - The 6-5 Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL have returned to the EXPO Centre to do battle with the Newfoundland Growlers (0-9). This Canada Day Tip-Off will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. and feature a showdown between two electric guards.
DeMarco Dickerson, signed during the Stingers road-trip, comes into his home debut averaging 14.3 points per game on 41.9% shooting across 3 games. The guard spent time in the NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NCJAA before beginning his pro career in Sweden this past season. Dickerson packs a reliable backcourt scoring punch the Stingers have desperately needed this year. Watch for him to feed off the home crowd's energy and step up big for Edmonton.
On the other side of the aisle is the CEBL's leading scorer Brandon Sampson (21.3 points per game). Sampson is a crafty offensive weapon, liable to provide a scoring outburst on any given night. He produced a CEBL record breaking 42-point performance on June 5th vs the BlackJacks, but despite his efforts the Growlers have yet to tally a win in their inaugural season.
The Stingers will also lean on former U of A Golden Bear Brody Clarke's consistent scoring (14.3 points per game) and mainstay Jordan Baker's team-leading 11.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. 2021 All-CEBL forward Marlon Johnson Jr. has found his stride, reaching double figures in scoring across his last 4 games.
Tonight's game will start at 7:00 p.m.
