January 2, 2011 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Erie Explosion News Release
Erie, PA- The Erie Explosion have announced that they have re-signed former Edinboro University offensive lineman Mike Fazio to a contract for the 2011 season. Fazio (6'4, 295) played all three positions on the offensive line during his career at Edinboro University from 2004-2009. Settling in at the center position in 2009, Fazio was named to the 2009 All-PSAC team for his efforts in leading the Fighting Scots to an 8-3 record and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Division II Playoffs.
Fazio made the transition to the professional indoor game with the Erie Storm in 2010 and was a vital component of an Erie offensive unit that finished first in the AIFA in Total Offense, Passing Offense, and First Downs. Fazio started 14 games for Erie in 2010, and led a pass protection unit that allowed only 20 sacks in 525 pass attempts.
"It all starts up-front for our offense, and bringing Mike Fazio back into that group was a major priority during our off-season recruiting. Mike had an All-League type of season for us in his rookie year in 2010, and I am looking for an ever bigger season from him as we work towards bringing the 2011 SIFL Championship to Erie," commented Erie Explosion Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
The Erie Explosion, proud members of the Southern Indoor Football League, will open training camp on March 4th 2011. For more information on the Erie Explosion and the SIFL visit www.southernifl.com
