Ed Ott and Vic Davilla to Return in 2004

October 13, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Allentown Ambassadors News Release

Allentown Ambassadors' manager Ed Ott and player/coach Vic Davilla will return to the Ambassadors next season, team officials announced today.

Ott, 52, managed the Ambassadors for the first three years of the team's existence and the last year and a half. He has compiled a 184-209 record over that span, including the Ambassadors first two playoff appearances in 1998 and 1999. Ott won Manager of the Year honors in both seasons. Ott played in the Major Leagues for eight seasons before rotator cuff injuries forced him to retire. He was the everyday catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979 when the Pirates won the World Series.

Davilla, 30, won Player of the Year honor last season for his near triple crown campaign. Davilla finished first in RBI, but second in home runs and batting average. A home run in his final at-bat of the season would have brought Davilla to a tie in both of those categories, but his long drive to right-center field came up a few feet short. Davilla was also in the top three in seven other offensive categories, including leading the league in slugging percentage, on-base percentage and total bases. He will continue in his role as the Director of Player Procurement next season.

Group tickets can be reserved for next season right now. The Ambassadors have a special offer available only until Thanksgiving for groups, so call our office at 610 437-6800 to sign up today!
