ECHL Officials to Work CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Thursday announced that four of the League's officials have been selected to work the third annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game. The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 25, at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
The referees for the game are Stephen Reneau and Stephen Thomson while the linesmen are Ryan Madsen and Charlie O'Connor.
Reneau is in his second season in the ECHL after working the Conference Finals in the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Thomson, Madsen and O'Connor are each working their first ECHL season in 2014-15.
"The ECHL is very pleased for all four of these officials as each of them is deserving of the honor," said ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Ernst. "These four officials should be honored that USA Hockey has selected them to work this game. We wish all four success in this game and thank USA Hockey and the USODP, as well as the SPHL, for all the time and effort they put into developing officials for the professional level.
"Having this be the third year in a row that officials that will work in the ECHL this season work this showcase game shows that the development process we have implemented over the last few years with the USODP and the SPHL in developing these officials is working and will only get stronger," Ernst said.
It is the third consecutive year that ECHL officials have been selected to work the game. Tom Chmielewski and Chris Pitoscia were the referees while Alex Stagnone and Brian Oliver were the linesmen for the inaugural game in 2012-13. Last season, Brett Sheva and Andrew Wilk were the referees and Ryan Daisy and Shaun Morgan served as the linesmen.
The CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game features 42 of the top American prospects eligible for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Twenty-three players appear on the 2014-15 NHL Central Scouting Futures List, which highlights players that have potential to be selected in the first three rounds of the draft.
There are 27 former ECHL officials who are scheduled to work as part of the NHL officiating team in 2014-15 with referees Darcy Burchell, Francis Charron, Tom Chmielewski, Ghislain Hebert, Jean Hebert, Marc Joannette, Trent Knorr, Mike Leggo, Dave Lewis, T.J. Luxmore, Wes McCauley, Jon McIsaac, Dean Morton, Dan O'Rourke, Brian Pochmara, Kevin Pollock, Kyle Rehman, Chris Rooney, Graham Skilliter, Justin St. Pierre and Ian Walsh, and linesmen Steve Barton, Matt MacPherson, Brian Mach, Tim Nowak, Bryan Pancich and Jay Sharrers.
