East Kentucky Miners News Release
PIKEVILLE, KY. - Fresh off of the most convincing win in Continental Basketball Association (CBA) history, East Kentucky will end the 2007-08 regular-season on the road Thursday versus Minot. East Kentucky, sitting above the .500 mark in its debut campaign, will look to carry momentum from Sunday's record-breaking 194-115 (7, 0) win versus Atlanta over into the matchup against Minot.
The American Conference leader, Minot (34-10) boasts high school legend Ronnie Fields - one of the league's top all-time players.
Fields recently scored his 6,000th career point. He is only the fifth player in CBA history to score 6,000 points.
Veteran mentor Chris Daleo guides the Skyrockets. Minot has won four straight games. The Skyrockets have prevailed in eight of their last nine outings.
East Kentucky shattered more than one CBA record in Sunday's commanding victory over Atlanta. The Miners established the following CBA records:
Most Points, Team (194); Most Points, Half (113); Most Points, Quarter (58) and Largest Margin of Victory (79). East Kentucky and Minot have been on a similar layoff. The Skyrockets haven't played since defeating Albany 121-111 (5.5, 1.5) on Saturday, March 1. The Miners are set to return to the floor for the first time since the multi-milestone performance against Atlanta.
East Kentucky guard Jason McLeish is the reigning CBA American Conference Player of the Week.
Minot owns a 4-2 lead over East Kentucky in the all-time series. The Skyrockets edged East Kentucky 106-104 (5.5-1.5) when the two teams last met on Sunday, Feb. 10 in a conference matchup at the Expo Center.
Thursday's game will serve as a regular-season finale for the Miners. Tip-off for the East Kentucky-Minot game is set for 7:05 p.m.
