Early season woes continue for KiXX, Storm improve to MISL best 6-1 record

Philadelphia, PA - The defending MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX (2-7) dropped their third straight decision tonight to the Chicago Storm (6-1) in front of 5,873 fans at the Wachovia Spectrum. Chicago's defense, which allowed 9.5 points per game coming into the match, held Philadelphia to just one goal tonight. The road team has won the last seven matches between the two clubs.
The first place Storm made their presence felt immediately in Philadelphia, when Mariano Bollella scored just 51 seconds into the game. Fabinho set up Bollella's fifth of the season. After a scoreless second quarter, the Storm took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Pat Morris tied the game at two for the KiXX at 3:33 of the third quarter when the team captain scored on a rebound off of an Angel Rivillo shot. The goal was Morris' fourth of the season. With just 58 seconds remaining in the quarter, 2006-07 All-Rookie selection Stephen Armstrong gave the Storm the lead for good with his fifth of the season. Bollella was credited with the assist.
At 10:26 of the fourth quarter, Aaron Susi was assessed a tripping penalty. Chicago capitalized 28 seconds later when Armstrong and Bollella teamed up again to take a 6-2 lead against the best penalty killing unit in the MISL. Less than a minute later, Carlos Farias launched a midfield shot over the head of KiXX keeper Peter Pappas, his sixth goal of the season and first three-pointer.
Notes: Philadelphia outshot Chicago 23-18. The Storm were without Mark Ughy, the sixth leading scorer in the MISL, who broke his foot in a November 30 match against Orlando. Wendell Regis recorded the 400th block of his 11 year career tonight.
The club will travel to New Jersey next Friday, December 14 to face the expansion Ironmen at 8:00pm ET. This will be the first visit for the KiXX to the brand new Prudential Center. Philadelphia will then return home December 15 to face the expansion Orlando Sharks for the first time this year.
