Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(ADELANTO, CA) - While the JetHawks rallied late, it was the first three innings that proved to be too much to overcome for Lancaster Saturday night. The High Desert Mavericks jumped out to a 6-1 lead through the first three frames and held on the rest of the way for a 7-4 win. The Mavs won three out of four in the series, moving them past Lancaster as the JetHawks drop to third place in the Southern Division.
Coming off a complete game victory, JetHawks starter Casey Hudspeth struggled with his command. The Mavericks pushed across an unearned run in the first inning, but plated three in the second inning and added two more in the third, chasing Hudspeth from the game.
Jose Duran turned in his second straight excellent relief appearance, helping to keep Lancaster close. Duran turned in four and 2/3 scoreless frames as the JetHawks fought back. After netting early runs on a Matt Weston homer and a Gabe Suarez single, the JetHawks struck twice in the eighth inning on back-to-back doubles by Koby Clemens and Marcos Cabral. That brought Lancaster within two, but that was as close as they could get.
Brandon Barnes poked three singles for the JetHawks, extending his hitting streak to seven straight games.
The JetHawks head home to open a six-game homestand Sunday as they battle the Stockton Ports. Shane Wolf (2-3) starts for Lancaster against Stockton's Ben Hornbeck (4-3). The game will begin at 6:00 with the radio broadcast carried live on Magic 1340 AM and online at JetHawks.com. The Pre-Game Show starts at 5:45.
The annual Christmas in July will take place during the game. There will be a holidays theme and Santa will be visiting. As a Sunday in the Park, fans will be allowed onto the field before the game to have fun on the grass and play catch. The stadium gates open at 4 PM.
The JetHawks return home Sunday, July 19 to begin a six-game homestand against the Stockton Ports and the Lake Elsinore Storm. Great ticket packages, including season tickets and flexible mini-plans, are on sale now for the 2009 season and may be ordered by calling (661) 726-5400.
