
Earls and Havens earn PTW honors

Odessa Roughnecks linebacker Shomari Earls has been named IFL Defensive Player of the Week for week 12. Earls was a major contributor on defense in the Roughnecks win over the Alaska Wild back on Saturday, May 17, 2008, 57-38. Earls registered 5.5 total tackles including 4 for a loss of 42 total yards and he collected 3 sacks. Earls is second on the Roughnecks defense with 33.0 total tackles in â08. He also leads the team with 8.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. Earls is ranked 8th among all IFL defensive players, averaging 4.7 tackles a game.
Earls was a standout middle linebacker at Florida Atlantic University. In 2005, Earls earned All-Sun Belt Conference Defensive Team honors and in 2004 he led the club in total tackles with 81.
HAVENS HONORED AFTER GREAT PERFORMANCE -
K Ryan Havens has been named the www.IndoorFootballFan.com Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of May 12th - May 19th. Havens connected on three of five field goals including field goals from 17, 24 and 56 yards. The former Baylor and Permian High School kicker went six-for-seven on extra point attempts in the win over Alaska. Havens is second in the IFL with 8 field goals made and is third in field goal percentage at 30.8. Odessa looks to ride their momentum into Saturday, May 24, 2008 as they travel to Lake Charles to face undefeated Louisiana. With the unprecedented agreement between the IFL and the UIF, the United Indoor Football League, the champions of each league for 2008 will meet on July 26 in the city of the UIF Champion. With this new establishment it should make the IFL playoff push between all nine teams one of the most exciting to date.
