
Eagles Set for Expansion Side OKC Energy to Visit Charlotte

Charlotte, NC - The Eagles will host the Oklahoma City Energy FC this Saturday June 7 th at Queens Sports Complex, in the two clubs first and only meeting this season.
Oklahoma City currently sits right below the Eagles at 11 th place in the league standings with 9 points in 10 games. In OKC's last game they defeated the New York Red Bulls Reserves 1-0. The Energy's lone goal came from Michael Thomas assisted by Christian Duke in the 90th minute on a late corner. The game winner was Thomas' first goal of the season and he now has four points coming from one goal and two assists .
The Energy's leading scorer so far in 2014 is forward Kyle Greig who has totaled three goals and one assist in 10 games. Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen is the team's first ever manager. Nielsen takes the reigns after retiring from Sporting Kansas City following the 2013 season.
The Eagles last game was at home when they lost a hard fought battle to league rivals the Wilmington Hammerheads 2-1. Wilmington struck first in the 12th minute as Sammy Ochoa found Manu Aparicio who cut through the Eagles defense and put the visitors up 1-0 . The Hammerheads second goal came from Steven Miller whose shot took a deflection and put the visitors up 2-0. The Eagles pushed back right at the 90 th minute when a rocket off of the foot of Drew Yates beat Quillan Roberts, unfortunately the Eagles could not tie it up and the game ended 2-1.
Drew Yates' goal pushed him ahead of Jorge Herrera for the team lead in points with 11. Yates now sits atop the stat sheet with three goals and five assists. Herrera still leads the team with four goals through 10 games.
