Welcome to Eagles' Nest Notes, the weekly Saginaw Spirit update and preview. The Spirit prepare for games three and four of their OHL playoff match-up against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The series is tied with one game apiece. The 2007 OHL Playoffs, "Whatever It Takes..."

Teams are re-seeded within their conference after each round and the division winners are always ranked 1-2 within the conference as long as they progress. The Champions from each conference play in the OHL Championship Series.

The playoffs have started with a bang. Center Tom Pyatt and winger Ryan O'Marra lead the Spirit scoring production with 3 points apiece; O'Marra has scored 2 goals. Center Cody Bass, winger Tomas Zaborsky and defenseman Patrick McNeill have each tallied 1 goal and 1 assist. The Greyhounds have been active on the scoreboard as well, with winger Cody Thornton and center Dustin Jeffrey having each tallied 5 points, while defenseman Josh Godfrey and winger Jiri Tlusty are tied in goal production with 3 each. Goalie Kyle Gajewski has started both games for the Hounds, earning a 2.52 goals against average and 0.935 save percentage.
The Spirit were 6-2-0-0 against the Greyhounds during the 2006-07 regular season. Center Tom Pyatt and winger Ryan McDonough lead the team in production against the Hounds with 10 points apiece; Pyatt and winger Patrick Asselin each tallied 5 goals. Goalie Ryan Daniels earned a 2.35 goals against average and 0.911 save percentage against the Soo. Leading the Greyhounds in offensive production against the Spirit were center Dustin Jeffrey with 11 points and winger Cody Thornton with 4 goals.
The Spirit ended the regular season in second place in the OHL West Division, fourth in the OHL Western Conference, with 91 points and a record of 44-21-0-3. Center Tom Pyatt (43-38-81), winger Jan Mursak (27-53-80), center Tyler Haskins (11-60-71) and winger Ryan McDonough (34-36-70) lead the Spirit offense. Defensemen Patrick McNeill (22-36-58), Nigel Williams (17-19-36) and Andrew Hotham (8-19-27) chipped in from the blue line while starting netminder Ryan Daniels earned a 2.94 goals against average and 0.907 save percentage. The Greyhounds ended the regular season with a record of 37-23-1-7 and 82 points, good for third place in the OHL West Division and fifth place in the OHL Western Conference. The Hounds boasted high scoring center Dustin Jeffrey (34-58-92), winger Cody Thornton (36-40-76) and winger David Kuchejda (25-28-53) during the regular season. Defenseman Josh Godfrey (24-33-57) lead from the blue line with veteran Kyle Gajewski holding down the Hounds net for 56 games.
