Spirit Week in Review.

The Saginaw Spirit finished pre-season 3-1, after Sunday's 5-3 come-from-behind win over Sarnia. Leading pre-season scorers include Jean-Michel Rizk (4g, 1a) and Patrick McNeill (5a). McNeill, Daniel Borges and Jamie Klie finished the pre-season at +4.

Thursday, 9/23/04 Spirit @ Windsor Spitfires 7:30 PM

The Spits earned a playoff berth in their last game of last season. The Spirit won the season series with Windsor last year, going 3-2-1 for 7 points. The Spirit wins included a 5-0 shutout in the Spirit home opener.

Windsor returns with NHL draft pick, veteran defenseman Mitch Maunu (Chicago Blackhawks, 2004) and first round OHL pick, forward Corey McGillis. The Spitfires acquired well respected goaltender Brad Topping from the Kitchener Rangers during the off season.

Saturday, 9/25/04 Spirit @ Plymouth Whalers 7:30 PM

Saginaw and Plymouth have a grudge match going from pre-season, following two gritty, no-holds-barred contests. Each team picked up a road victory in pre-season, with the Whalers defeating Spirit at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena 2-1, and Saginaw returning the favor at Compuware arena 5-2. Saginaw picked up 3 points during the 2003-04 season against Plymouth, going 1-6-0-1.

Plymouth's high scoring forward John Mitchell missed both Spirit-Whalers' games, but Saginaw got a good look at netminder Ryan Nie, big forward Vaclav Meidl (NAS '04) and gritty Gino Pisellini (PHI '04).
