Eagles make it three in a row, with 104-98 win over Great Falls

The Utah Eagles used a swarming defense and big shots from Bryant Markson and Harold Arceneaux to win its third straight CBA game Thursday Night in Salt Lake City. The Eagles led by as many as 11, and improved to 4-6 after losing 6 straight games. Great Falls fell to 5-4 after previously winning 4 straight against the Eagles.

Rob Griffin, who had 36 points in Utah's win over Yakama, started off the game hot with 10 points in the first quarter. Markson, who started in place in John Millsap, chipped in 6 points as Utah overcame 10 points from Jamar Howard and led 25-24 after one period.

Marlyn Bryant and Travis Garrison gave the Explorers a brief lead in the second as the pair combined for 11 points, but Markson had two of his 4 steals and scored 10 points of his own to give Utah a 47-41 halftime lead.

Griffin exploded again in the third, hitting four open three pointers, and Arceneaux slashed his way to 6 points as the Eagles stretched its lead to 79-69. Javon Harris was steady for the Explorers, joining Howard with 6 points each in the quarter.

Malik Moore had 11 points in the final period, but Markson and Arceneaux combined for 13 points and three steals as the Eagles never let the game get away from them. Markson led all players with 25 points, while Griffin added 24 in the Utah win. Arceneaux added 19 points, while Ali Berdiel once again controlled the floor with 13 points and 8 assists. John Millsap rounded out the double figure scorers with 11. Howard led Great Falls with 22, while Harris and Moore both added 15.
