Charlotte Eagles News Release

(Charlotte, NC) - The Charlotte Eagles pro soccer team is back at home this Saturday night hosting the Wilmington Hammerheads. Kick off is slated for 7:00 pm at Restart Field on the campus of Charlotte Christian School.

The Eagles were on the road last weekend settling for ties at Western Mass and Bermuda. Charlotte hopes to get back on the winning path Saturday night hosting rival Wilmington. Wilmington has had a tough go at it this season, currently one spot above the bottom of the standings with a record of 1-5-6 for 9 points. The Eagles defeated the Hammerheads 3-2 in the first match up of the two teams this season. Though Wilmington is near the bottom of the standing they are always a tough squad, and games with Wilmington are always expected to be close. Charlotte just squeeked out a win against Wilmington the last time with the winning gaol coming in the final minutes.

Charlotte is still sitting atop the USL-2 standings with a record of 8-1-4 or 28 points. That's five points ahead of second place Cleveland City Stars. With just seven games remaining in Charlotte's twenty game regular season, the Eagles hope to finish out the season strong beginning with wins in their next two matches against Wilmington. After Saturday night's match at home with Wilmington, the Eagles will travel to Wilmington for a rematch at the Hammerheads home field on Saturday, July 12th.

The Charlotte Lady Eagles W-League team is on the road tonight at WakeMed Soccer Park facing the Carolina Railhawks. The Lady Eagles got a 1-0 win against the Railhawks this past weekend at Restart Field. Charlotte will have to continue winning, and get a little help from others if they hope to catch the undefeated Atlanta Silverbacks. The Lady Eagles will have a chance to hand Atlanta its first loss on Saturday, July 12th at Restart Field. Kick off for that match is set for 7:00 pm. Saturday, July 12th is also the Windstream 3v3 Cup hosted by the Lady Eagles. Teams interested in participating in the 3v3 tournament must register by 5:00pm on Monday, July 7th.
