Stars To Host Pioneers During Independence Day Match

The Cleveland City Stars return to Krenzler Stadium Friday for an Independence Day matinee with the Western Mass Pioneers. Friday's match has a special 3 pm kick off.

The Stars enter the match in second place in the USL Second Division with 23 points and a 6-2-5 record. Cleveland trails first place Charlotte by five points. The Stars are 3-0-3 at Krenzler Stadium this season and maintain an overall home record of 10-0-6 in its brief two year history.

Western Mass enters the contest in fifth place with 19 points and a 5-5-4 record. The pioneers are 2-3-1 away from home on the season. Cleveland defeated Western Mass in last season's meeting at Krenzler Stadium by a score of 4-0.

Friday is the second match of the season between the clubs, as the two sides played to a 2-2 draw at Western Mass Lutsiano Stadium on June 1st. Sallieu Bundu and Dana McGregor each tallied goals for Cleveland in the first meeting.

The entire afternoon will also serve as an Independence Day party for the Stars and their fans. As part of the festivities all kids will be invited to take part in the famous Candy Scramble during half time. There will also be special discounts available on merchandise, including $5 CCS T-Shirt special.

AIS Int. Coaches 2007The Stars will welcome the coaches from Ambassadors in Sport from all around the world, which will guarantee a gigantic atmosphere during the match. CCS President Jonathan H. Ortlip will take part in the ceremonial first kick. The first 300 fans into Krenzler Stadium will receive free Charter One Cups.

Friday is also host family appreciation day at Krenzler Stadium. Recognition and special honors will be giving throughout the afternoon to the families that help make the Cleveland City Stars a success.

Prior to the 3 pm kick off, the CCS Reserve team will display their skills in an exhibition game at 12 pm that is free of charge to the fans.
