Eagles Head North for Back-To-Back Weekend

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles will head up north this weekend to face off against the Harrisburg City Islanders and Rochester Rhinos in a back-to-back weekend.

In the Eagles last game they took a huge victory over long-time rivals Charleston Battery, snapping their five-game league losing streak. The Eagles took a 3-1 victory against the Battery with goals coming from Juan Guzman, Fred Sekyere, and Jorge Herrera. The game quickly started off in favor of the Eagles when Guzman intercepted a pass from Charleston goalkeeper and put it into the back of the net just two minutes into the game. Charlotte doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Herrera's free kick was flicked into the net by Sekyere. Sekyere returned the favor in the 65th minute when he slotted a through ball to Herrera to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Eagles first stop will be in Pennsylvania when they face the Harrisburg City Islanders, who currently sit one spot behind the Eagles in the USL PRO standings. In the City Islanders last game they faced off against the Montreal Impact Reserves where they fell 1-0 against MLS side. Morgan Langley, a City Islander forward, is currently tied with Drew Yates in the USL PRO standings for points leaders with 11. Langley's 11 points have come from four goals and three assists on the season as opposed to Yates three goals and five assists (which still places him in one of the top spots among the league for assists).

Charlotte will quickly turn around and face off against the Rochester Rhinos, who are currently sitting in 4th place in USL PRO, on Saturday night. In the Rhinos' last game they faced off against Oklahoma City Energy where they played to a 0-0 draw. Rochester forward JC Banks currently sits between Charlotte points leaders Jorge Herrera (13) and Drew Yates (11) with 12 points through 14 games. Banks leads the Rhinos with five goals and two assists.

This will be Charlotte's first look at Harrisburg and Rochester this season. The Eagles will host the City Islanders to close out the regular season on Saturday, September 6th and will host Rochester on Saturday, August 16th.

The Eagles return home next weekend July 5th for the second Men's and Women's double header of the 2014 season. The Lady Eagles will kick off the action at 5:30 pm when they face off against the Gulf Coast Texans and then the Men's team will take on the Dayton Dutch Lions. Tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate up until the day of the games (midnight) or can also be purchased at the gates, the day of the game, for full price.
