Washington, PA - The Charlotte Eagles faced the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on the road tonight at Falconi Field. The Riverhounds two game winning streak ended when the Charlotte Eagles blanked the Hounds 2-0 in front of crowd of 2607. The Eagles better their record to 6-1-1, 19pts, while the Riverhounds drop to 3-3-0, 9pts.
Charlotte and Pittsburgh played an even and scoreless first half. Pittsburgh outshot Charlotte in the first half 6-4.
Charlotte's Ishmael Mintah scored the first goal of the match and his second of the year in the 68th minute, assisted by Jacob Coggins. Coggins then scored the final goal in the 85th minute with an assist by Chris Lemons. Coggins now has seven goals and three assists this season, leading the team. Coggins leads the league in points with 17 and is tied with teammate Swinehart for the league lead in goals at seven.
The Eagles next home game is on June 11th, when the Eagles will host the New Hampshire Phantoms at 7:30 pm. Art Works F.C., Charlotte's Homeless Soccer team will be at the stadium on June 11th. Bank of America has offered a $10,000 matching grant to help Art Works F.C. represent the United States in the Homeless World Cup in Scotland.
