Penn FC News Release
(Harrisburg, Pa., June 4, 2005) â The Harrisburg City Islanders have announced an exhibition friendly against the D.C. United Reserves, featuring phenom Freddy Adu, at Skyline Sports Complex on Tuesday, August 16, at 7:30 p.m.
Adu, the gifted 16-year-old who many consider the face of American soccer, is scheduled to play for the United Reserve team. Additionally, local products Josh Gros (Cumberland Valley High School) and Ben Olsen (Middletown High School), both key starters for D.C. United, have been invited as "special guests" to the match, which has been dubbed "The Clash of the Capitals."
"The City Islanders are thrilled to bring the most recognizable soccer player in the country, and one of the most famous players in the world, to Harrisburg for this premier event," said City Islanders General Manager Joe Sierko. "We are also hoping to have Josh Gros and Ben Olsen, two of the best players this area has ever produced, at the match. On the field and off, August 16 will be a night to remember."
"This is a great chance for our players to show what they can do against top-flight opposition," said Harrisburg Head Coach Bill Becher. "They'll be very excited for this match."
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, June 15. Until that date, tickets will be available to season ticket holders and corporate partners, and the team will be selling entire bleachers (200 seats) for $2,000 as part of an "Own A Bleacher" program. More information is available at www.cityislanders.com, or by calling 717-441-GOAL.
"The âOwn A Bleacher' program is an excellent opportunity for area soccer clubs, corporations, and non-profit organizations to enjoy a memorable night out at Skyline, and also a fantastic fundraising option," said Sierko.
Ticket prices for "The Clash of the Capitals" are as follows: Deck View (no seats): $15 Bleacher Seats: Adults $15, Youth $10 Standing Room Only: $10 As always, ticket prices increase by $2 if purchased on Matchday.
