
Eagles advance in Open Cup with win over El Paso

El Paso, TX - The Charlotte Eagles have advanced the the third round of the US Open Cup* with a 4-1 victory over the El Paso Patriots tonight in El Paso. Charlotte will host CD Chivas USA of Major League Soccer on July 13th at Davidson College in round three of the Open Cup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. Check the Charlotte Eagles website at www.CharlotteEagles.com for ticket pricing and information which should be available some time Thursday, June 30th.
Patrick Daka started out the scoring for the Eagles in the 12th minute off the cross from veteran midfielder Nate Watkins. Daka's goal was the only goal of the half.
Charlotte scored three goals in the second half to seal the victory. Chris Lemons got goal number in the early minutes of the second half with a long shot, catching the El Paso goalkeeper out of position. Veteran Forward, Dustin Swinehart scored the final two Charlotte goals.
The El Paso Patriots got themselves on the board in the final minute, following a Charlotte penalty. Miquel Larossa scored the lone goal for El Paso.
*The U.S. Open Cup, which is recognized as the U.S. Soccer Federation's National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer.
