(Harrisburg, Pa., June 29, 2005) - Harrisburg City Islanders defenders Shane Crawford and J.T. Dorsey and midfielder Derek Potteiger have all been named to the USL Second Division Team of the Week for Week 10, the league has announced. All three played well in Harrisburg's two road games last week, in Pittsburgh on June 22 (1-0 win) and in Cincinnati on June 24 (2-2 tie).
Crawford, 25, makes his third Team of the Week appearance this season (along with a Player of the Week selection on June 7). Beginning with the first full game Crawford played at left back on May 21 (he left due to injury after 42 minutes on May 7), Harrisburg is a nearly perfect 5-0-1.
The consistently solid Dorsey earns his first weekly recognition of the year. The 29-year-old forms the experienced half of Harrisburg's central defense alongside rookie Dustin Bixler. The 6-1, 185-pound Dorsey, a former Hershey Wildcat and Loyola grad, has now started a club-record 22 consecutive regular season games.
Potteiger, the team's captain, is also on his first Team of the Week of 2005. The 25-year-old accounted for the only goal in Harrisburg's win at Pittsburgh, slamming home a left-footed finish in the 14th minute. It was his first goal of the year for Potteiger, who was a 2004 First Team All-League choice.
The City Islanders (6-3-2, 20 points), who return to Pittsburgh this Friday, July 1, have now placed 11 different players on the Team of the Week this season. Three City Islanders (Bryan Hill, Crawford, and Matt Tanzini) have been Player of the Week.
