HOUSTON, TX (Tuesday, August 29, 2006) - The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today fined Houston Dynamo Head Coach Dominic Kinnear $1,000 for violent conduct in the Dynamo's 3-2 loss versus Chivas USA on Saturday, August 26.

A fine of $1,000 was imposed on Kinnear after a controversial call late in the game went against the Dynamo, prompting a post-game confrontation between Kinnear, Assistant Coach John Spencer, and referee Alex Prus. The argument ensued after Prus chose not to call a penalty kick that would have given the Dynamo an opportunity to tie the match.

The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee had initially made the decision to suspend Kinnear for one game and impose a 1,000 fine; however the disciplinary measure was reduced to the $1,000 fine after Kinnear and the Dynamo appealed the decision to the Commissioner. After a hearing was held, MLS Commissioner Don Garber overturned the decision and ruled that Kinnear's transgressions did not warrant a suspension. Spencer was also handed a fine for an undisclosed amount of money.

Dynamo Head Coach Dominic Kinnear will be coaching from the bench tomorrow, when they take on the Chicago Fire, on Wednesday, August 30, at 8:00 PM (CT). The Dynamo will be on the road again on Saturday, September 2nd as they face their intra-state rivals, FC Dallas, at 7:30 PM (CT)
