Dusters quarterback Reese to rejuvenate Amarillo

Amarillo, TX 6/3/09 - An old face returned to the Amarillo Dusters Monday, with the signing of former Duster star Julian Reese. The new addition has spread new life throughout the Dusters organization.
Reese was a fixture with the Dusters in 2004, 2005, and 2008, when he led Amarillo to the team's only division title, conference title, and league championship in 2004.
"I had some enjoyable moments while playing in Amarillo," expressed Reese during the Ben Bennett coach's show. "One of my fondest memories was when I flew my mother and father out to watch me play at the Amarillo Civic Center. The memory of looking up in the stands and seeing my parents there was a feeling I will never forget." Reese's mother passed away three years ago.
The 27-year-old Reese had been teaching football and track at Austin Middle School in Amarillo before signing with the Dusters. "Coaching football along with the children out of school currently, all contributed to my return to the Dusters."
Reese is Amarillo's all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns. Where does his inspiration come from? It derives from his older brother, who played quarterback in high school. "My brother was a little guy and people doubted his ability. He could make plays at any time. He was the reason why I wanted to play quarterback."
And starting for coach Bennett Julian says is something he will thoroughly enjoy. "I believe this is a good program. Coach Bennett is a good coach and has been around the af2 for over 20 years. I am confident the Dusters will make a run into the playoff this season."
That confidence was shown in Monday's press conference. "I don't believe in pressure," remarked Reese. "I am confident in my skills and in this club being successful this year."
Amarillo (1-8) will play their next game on Saturday, June 6th in the Amarillo Civic Center against the Rio Grande Valley Dorados at 7 PM. For tickets, call 806-350-PASS.
