Amarillo Venom News Release

AMARILLO, TEXAS The Amarillo Dusters are pleased to announce a multi-station radio broadcast agreement for the 2008 season. Fans throughout the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles will be able to follow Dusters football on the following stations: KPUR 107.1 in Amarillo, KWTS 91.1 in Canyon, and KGYN 1210 in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Joe Morgado, vice president for the Amarillo Dusters, said that to the best of his knowledge, this is the only multi-station partnership in arena football 2 league history.

"We are extremely proud of our multi-broadcast partnership," Morgado said. "The Dusters now truly have a radio network that stretches across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles."

Eric Slayter, general manager for Cumulus, said that he is excited about the partnership as well.

"We're looking forward to being a part of what will be the best year ever for the Dusters franchise," Slayter said. "Our family of radio stations, Rock 108, 95.7 The Kar, KPUR, 93.1 The Beat, 1440 ESPN, and 1550 ESPN Deportes will all play active roles in the promotion of Dusters football."

KPUR 107.1 will be the Dusters flagship station, airing all home and away football games in their entirety. 95.7 The Kar will have a section in the stands called the 'Kar Lot' and will offer discounted tickets on Duster Ticket Tuesdays. 93.1 The Beat will also give away tickets to each of the home games.

Rock 108 morning show hosts, Slayter, Jay, and The Shea will host the halftime activities at Dusters home games.

The next element of the multi-station broadcast agreement features KWTS, 91.1 FM, the West Texas A&M University radio station in Canyon. Students in the broadcasting department will be producing the games.

"We are very excited to partner with such a great sports organization," said Dr. Leigh Browning, director of broadcasting at WT. "The fact that they believe in young broadcasters is a testimony to their commitment to our community."

Covering the Texas panhandle wasn't enough for the Dusters according to Morgado.

"We know that there are a lot of football fans outside of the greater Amarillo area," Morgado said. "We want the entire Texas and Oklahoma panhandles to consider the Amarillo Dusters their hometown team."

Guymon, Oklahoma radio station, KGYN 1210 was added to the mix. Jim Smith, general manager at KGYN, immediately saw the potential in the broadcast partnership and wanted to enhance it by streaming the games online, making Dusters games available to listen to around the world.

"We're very excited about being an official partner with the Dusters this year," Smith said. "We've been fans for years, and now we get to participate with the actual broadcast. We hope to fill up our stream with people listening world wide."

Smith hopes that KGYN listeners will hear how exciting and action-packed the Dusters games are and will travel to Amarillo to see the home games in person.
