
Dusters active as trade deadline passes 5/28

Amarillo, TX 5/28/09 - The Amarillo Dusters announced today they have added defensive back Travis Pugh, offensive lineman Crawford May, and wide receiver Steve Gonzalez to the roster.
Pugh, 26 (11/25/82), has suited up for Dusters Head Coach Ben Bennett before, in Austin last season and in Manchester the year before. While in Austin, Pugh ranked third on the team in tackles with 53.5 tackles, 42 of those solo takedowns. He also registered 2 interceptions and 11 pass break ups with the Wranglers.
"Travis has the ability to make a thunderous hit any time he is on the field," uttered Dusters head coach Ben Bennett. "He is an electrifying player that will make plays anywhere on the field. Travis will be a player fans need to keep their eye on."
The Manning, South Carolina native and University of Clemson alum will suit up for the Dusters this weekend at infield corner and back side corner, when the Dusters take on the Boise Burn. The Dusters have also activated offensive lineman Crawford May from the team's refused to report list. The 6-2, 308-pound rookie out of Texas State will also join the Dusters on their road trip to Boise.
And in a trade, the Dusters sent quarterback Joe Ayoob to the Central Valley Coyotes for wide receiver Steve Gonzalez. The 28-year-old rejoins Dusters head coach Ben Bennett, after playing for him in 2006 with the Manchester Wolves. In 2007, Gonzalez's rookie season with the Philadelphia Soul, he played in six games as a wide receiver, kickoff returner, and defensive back. Highlighting his career with the Soul, Gonzalez recorded 3 touchdown receptions and eight tackles. Also, Gonzalez is staring in the Michael Irvin reality television show.
