Dust Devils Rock Canadians

August 11, 2007 - Northwest League (NWL) - Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The Tri-City Dust Devils looked good Friday night, and it was only partly due to the Colorado Rockies jerseys the team was wearing as a part of the "Rockies Night" festivities. The Dust Devils defeated the Vancouver Canadians 4-2 and moved to within one game of the Northwest League East Division lead at 22-29. It was the third straight win in the series for the Dust Devils, and the sixth straight home win overall.

All the Dust Devils offense came in the second inning, as all nine Dust Devils came to the plate in the inning. Nate Anderson had a two-RBI single, and the Dust Devils benefited from a Vancouver error and two walks given up by Canadians starter Jose Guzman.

Tri-City pitchers held the Vancouver bats to just two runs on nine scattered hits. Starter Sheng-An Kuo (3-4) earned the win after giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and walking just one. Marco Duarte, Agustin Arias, and Riquy Pena gave up just two hits and struck out seven in four innings of relief. Pena earned his tenth save, which is second in the league, and made his league-high 21st appearance of the season.

The Rockies jerseys worn by the Dust Devils were auctioned off during the game, with the proceeds going to the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund. Coolbaugh was the first base coach for the Tulsa Drillers (Rockies Double-A affiliate) that died tragically on the field on July 22nd after being struck by a foul ball.

The two teams will take the field again Saturday night in game four of the five game series. Fans will want to stick around for a post-game fireworks show sponsored by Windermere Real Estate. In addition, all fans that donate a children's book to the Mid-Columbia Reading Foundation will receive a scratch ticket courtesy of Washington's Lottery.

Tickets can be purchased at the Dust Devils box office, by phone at 544-8789, online at HYPERLINK www.dustdevilsbaseball.com www.dustdevilsbaseball.com, and at all TicketsWest outlets. Season tickets, mini-plans, and group tickets are also available at the box office and over the phone.
