AVON, Ohio - The Rockford RiverHawks ‚¬â„¢ Brett Durand earned the save as the Frontier League East Division beat the West, 4-2, in the All-Star Game Wednesday at All Pro Freight Stadium.

Durand retired both hitters he faced, including a game-ending strikeout of Triple Crown contender Chris Curley of Florence, in his first career all-star appearance.

The two Rockford all-star batters, Jake Eigsti and Luis Parache, were both hitless. Eigsti, the East ‚¬â„¢s starting shortstop and the league ‚¬â„¢s leading hitter, was 0-for-3, though in the sixth inning, he drew a walk, stole second base and scored a run. Parache was 0-for-3 and struck out twice.

The East scored three times in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed. Erik Lis of the Joliet Slammers tripled in two runs and scored on a groundout.

Steven Alexander of Normal and Will Block of Southern Illinois hit home runs for the West.

Washington ‚¬â„¢s Casey Barnes started for the East and got the win. Zach Sterner of River City took the loss. Each starter pitched an inning.
