(Duluth, MN) Duluth-Superior Dukes Field Manager, Al Gallagher, announced today the signing of stolen base artist, Terry Jones, and former Dukes reliever, Joe Montgomery.

Jones, a 31 year-old major league veteran, has 245 career stolen bases, 27 of those coming in a big league uniform. The switch-hitting Jones appeared in 12 games with the Colorado Rockies before being dealt to the Montreal Expos in 1997. From 1998-2001, the Alabama native saw action with the Expos in 215 major league games, accumulating a .240 batting average with 21 doubles and 5 triples.

"I love the game of baseball," said Jones. "I feel I haven't reached the peak of my game and I want to show the major league teams that I belong in that league. The best place for me to do that is in Duluth and the Northern League."

Montgomery, 29, rejoins the Dukes after spending last season with the Sioux City Explorers and the Sioux Falls Canaries. The right-hander compiled a 12-6 record in 60 appearances for the Dukes in 1999-2000, playing a key-role in the Dukes' 2000 Central Championship title.

"Joe (Montgomery) is trying to recapture the magic that he had in 2000 by coming back to the Twin Ports," said Gallagher. "I am confident that he'll be able to find his groove again."

The right-hander has accumulated a 28-18 record in 7 years of professional baseball. In 336 career innings, Montogmery has allowed only 23 home runs and earned a 3.93 ERA.

Both players will report to spring training on May 11th, along with the rest of the Dukes roster.
