July 21, 2003 - Central Baseball League (Central League)
Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release

The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks won the first game of a four-game homestand on July 16. The Jackson Senators, who were in first place when they arrived in Ozark, were beat by the Ducks with a close score of 9-8 in 11 innings. Derek Eddie started the game and only allowed two of the 8 runs by the Senators. Meanwhile the Ducks score five runs. The sixth inning is where the Senators scored their first three runs. From then on, it was back-and-forth between the two teams. In the 9h inning, the score was tied 7-7. It stayed tied at 8-8 through the 10th inning until the Ducks scored the winning run in the 11th inning.

On July 17, Rick Wilson was the starting pitcher. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowed seven hits, one run, three strikes and six strikeouts. Jackson's Gerard McCall made the first run of the night in the second inning, but Bobby Koba, of the Ducks came back to score a run in the second inning. Koba also took four hits by pitch in one single game. His HP record is now 15; the league record is 19, made by Ducks former player Damion Roberts. The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks won the game in the 10th inning when Jonathan Wright scored the winning run.

RHP Billy Coleman pitched his first complete game and it was also a shutout. The Ducks scored two runs right away in the first inning, one in the fourth, one in the seventh and eighth. Eddie Lang, Steve Newson, Tracy Geffre and Terence Green were the Ducks to score the runs. The Ducks won with a score of 5-0.

The last game of the homestand didn't fair so well for the Ducks as they sadly lost 9-2. Terence Green's 2-run double in the first inning gave the Ducks the lead 2-1 but that would be all the offense as Jackson's starter Kenny Rayborn pitched seven innings allowing just the two runs on four hits and totaled 11 strikeouts. The Senators took a 3-2 lead into the seventh where they scored six times to pull away with the win. Nick Sorensen extended his hitting streak to nine games.
