Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release
The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks are having a job fair on April 12, 2003 from 10 AM â 2 PM at the Ducks office, which is located just south of Price Cutter Park. All who are interested in working with the Ducks are welcome to come out and fill out an application and talk with the staff. The season begins May 8 and goes through August 23. Ross Cowling Re-Signed
The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks have re-signed starting pitcher Ross Cowling. He's a 24-year-old left-handed pitcher who resides in Arkansas. He played last season with the Ducks and previously with the Greensville Bluesmen. While with the Bluesmen in 2001, he had a record of 1-5, 4 home runs and an ERA of 6.02. He had a great season with the Ducks in 2002 with a record of 3-10, started 11 games, 39 earned runs and 2 home runs. He ended the season with an ERA of 4.39.
Around the CBL
The Coastal Bend Aviators announced that they have acquired former Texas Ranger infielder Cris Colon from the Sioux City Explorers of the Northern League in exchange for outfielder Jorge Moreno. With this trade the Aviators acquire an experienced infielder who made it big with the Rangers in 1992. Colon is a .313 batter over three seasons, is a switch hitter who has the ability to play first or third base. He has only struck out 100 times in over 1,100 total plate appearances.
The Edinburg Roadrunners are bringing back Brandon Mozley and Clint Smith. Mozely had a 2.79 ERA with 2 wins and 0 losses last season. Smith's stats consist of a 4.21 ERA with 16 wins and 11 losses. The Roadrunners are also holding open try-outs at Edinburgh Baseball Stadium.
